On 7 and 8 December 2017, the Faculty of Law of Ghent University organises the international conference 'Freedom Under Pressure' on the occasion of its bicentenary. It seeks to gather scholars and practitioners from various disciplines to discuss key fundamental rights and freedoms under pressure in three distinct areas: Track 1. Data protection and privacy Track 2. Freedom of movement in the EU Track 3. Public policy meets property protection Track 2 (freedom of movement in the EU) consists of the following panels: - Free movement and EU citizenship - Free movement and the EU internal market - Free movement and the migration ‘crisis’ - Free movement and cross-border crime and criminal justice Keynote speeches will be delivered by Judge Crawford (ICJ), Prof. Cannataci (UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy), Judge O’Leary (ECtHR) and Judge Rosas (CJEU).
