On 20 January 2021 at 5.30 CET, Prof. T.P. Spijkerboer, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, will give the opening lecture as part of his Franqui visiting professorship at Ghent University.

“How can legal academics confront this pluralist and contested character of the field they are working on?” The aim of the course is to to explore how the erasure of the global south occurs in various fields of international law, which is formulated in ways that negate global South’s experiences and conceptualisation. The ‘international migration law’ reflects a particular global North (European) perspective. This legal doctrine North-Europan based perspective has a colonial deep structure.
