Abstract:
This chapter analyses the effects of demand-based labour migration regimes and their negative effects on migrant workers’ enjoyment of socio-economic and labour rights, with a special focus on their right to receive wages. It aims to answer the question of which normative and judicial sources are currently capable of ensuring the most effective protection of such rights, and the most equitable balance of the interests involved in this matter. To do so, this chapter critically compares the domestic jurisdictions of Ireland and Italy.
