Meltem Ineli Ciger, Odysseus member, published a new blog post: “The EU grants temporary protection for people fleeing war in Ukraine. Time to rethink unequal solidarity in EU asylum policy”

Meltem İneli Ciğer, Odysseus member and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law at the Suleyman Demirel University, Sergio Carrera, Lina Vosyluite and Leiza Brumat published a new article: The EU grants temporary protection for people fleeing war in Ukraine. Time to rethink unequal solidarity in EU asylum policy.

The authors examine the medium and long-term issues and questions that the implementation of the 2001 Temporary Protection Directive could rise. The article, in particular, stresses the importance of the principle of solidarity, criticising the double standards approach of EU Member States towards refugees based on nationality, race, ethnic origin and religion.
