New Article by Daniel Thym, Odysseus’ Member for Germany, with Jonas Bornemann: “Schengen and Free Movement Law During the First Phase of the Covid-19 Pandemic: Of Symbolism, Law and Politics”

Professor Daniel Thym, Odysseus’ Member for Germany, and Jonas Bornemann have published a new article “Schengen and Free Movement Law During the First Phase of the Covid-19 Pandemic: Of Symbolism, Law and Politics”, in European Papers – A Journal on Law and Integration.

The Article offers a critical analysis of the measures taken by the Member States and EU institutions at the internal and external borders of the Schengen area until late-October 2020, during the first phase of pandemic, and “draws lessons regarding the interaction of symbolism, law and politics in times of crisis”.

Professor Daniel Thym is Professor of Public, European and International Law at the University of Konstanz and Director of the University’s Research Centre for Immigration & Asylum Law (FZAA).

Jonas Bornemann is Research Assistant to the Chair of Public, European and International Law at University Konstanz.
