Decision making process of migrants in transit

Brief description:

How are migration decisions made within a context that is extremely dynamic, where policies change rapidly, and where access to information is poor? This research aims to elucidate the decision-making process of migrants in transit by linking individual trajectories with macro level changes in policy and politics. The research is based on desk research to gather data from existing empirical and theoretical literature. The research looks at the implementation and impacts of EU's asylum and border policies from the perspective of those on the move and analyses the complex migration trajectories and how they evolve before, during and after a policy implementation. It then compares the different decision making processes of migrants in response to such policies. The findings contribute to our understanding of the interplay between migrants agency and policies and provide theoretical and methodological implications for the study of international migration.
