Refugee Support Scholarships

Refugee Support Scholarships

The aim of this project is to offer a group of refugee-students the possibility to attend the summer course in order to enable them to acquire knowledge in European immigration and asylum law and to continue their studies which might have been interrupted due to their flight from their country of origin. Many of them who work in NGOs have already benefited from it. The RefYOUgees initiative organized with the support of the Université libre de Bruxelles depends on participatory funding.

Through a crowdfunding campaign, we hope to be able to finance, as we did last year, the participation of about ten participants with refugee or subsidiary protection status in Europe. The funds cover registration and transport costs, accommodation and subsistence for the duration of the summer course. You can help us with a small donation. To support our campaign, we have created #refYOUgees, a social media platform to share the faces and stories of people who believe in a different information model. Join us on Instagram and Twitter by following the hashtag #refYOUgees!

The aim is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of EU migration and asylum policy from a legal perspective. The classes combine theoretical and practical elements while allowing time for questions and discussions in class. The courses cover the most recent legislative, case law and policy developments at EU level.

We thank also warmly the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for their support by helping us to spread the advertisement through all their offices located in Europe.
