Our Odysseus member from the Netherlands Ricky van Oers (researcher at Radboud University and affiliated with the Centre for Migration Law) would like us to share with you this call for papers for an interdisciplinary workshop on “Social Class and Mobility”, to be held on 24 September 2026 at Radboud University, Nijmegen (the Netherlands).
The workshop, organised by the Centre for Migration Law and the Radboud University Network on Migrant Inclusion (RUNOMI), aims to explore how social class and social networks shape migrants’ trajectories, access to rights and resources, and experiences of inequality, belonging and participation.
It invites theoretical and empirical contributions from different disciplines, including law, political science, sociology and related fields. Topics include the role of social class in migration opportunities and legal status, its intersection with other factors such as gender and ethnicity, and its impact on social mobility and participation after migration.
Scholars at all stages of their career are encouraged to apply. Abstracts (approx. 500 words) should be submitted by 15 May 2026.
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend the annual conference of the Dutch Association for Migration Research (DAMR), which will take place on 25 September 2026 at Radboud University.
Limited funding is available to cover travel and accommodation costs.
