A PhD Seminar with grants available will be organised during the 2020 Summer School. You can find all relevant information in the PhD seminar flyer.

A PhD Seminar is organised during the summer school. It offers a group of around ten doctoral researchers and students the opportunity to present their PhD project and to receive feedback from a panel of Odysseus Members as well as occasionally a high-level practitioner following the summer school. The seminar is mainly for legal PhDs, but candidates in political science or international relations whose thesis include legal aspects can be accepted in agreement with the organiser. These sessions are in English, but some may be organised in French upon request.

The selected PhDs students need to register to the summer school and pay the registration fees for PhDs. They will follow the entire program as any participant to the summer school in addition to the PhD Seminar of around 10 hours.

Four grants are available and will be attributed on the basis of academic record and financial needs. The grants cover the registration fee (with the exception of the € 300 deposit as explained below) as well as travel and accommodation costs. Grant beneficiaries are requested to contribute actively to the coordination of the English or the French speaking group of participants.

During 2019 Summer School the PhD Seminar offered 12 doctoral researchers the opportunity to individually present their PhD project and receive feedback on the subject, structure and methodology of their thesis from a panel of three Odysseus Network Members from various European universities, as well as from an high-level practitioner attending the Summer School.

The closing date for applications is 15 July 2020.
