The Odysseus Network is pleased to announce the launch of the new “EU Migration and Asylum Law Chronicle“. Alongside our blog, the Chronicle will regularly provide a review of news in the areas of EU migration and asylum law.
The chronicle will provide the audience with a centralised source of information about legal developments in EU migration and asylum law, facilitating research. It will cover, among other things, communications and legislative proposals from the Commission, Council conclusions, Parliament reports and resolutions, publications from EU agencies and NGOs, rulings and conclusions from Advocates General at the Court of Justice, and important national-level events with a European dimension, as well as the most interesting books and papers in the area. Some very short comments may be included if time allows.
The aim is to offer a chronological overview of developments in EU migration and asylum law, allowing readers to easily find information using a thematic search tool. Hyperlinks to documents and literature available online, such as blog posts or reports, will be included to facilitate access. A “comments” function will enable readers to suggest items for inclusion in the chronicle.

The sirens’ call of digitalised return

The Commission proposed a regulation on the digitalisation of case management in the area of return, readmission and reintegration designed to simplify and speed up return procedures via improved data collection and sharing.
This new proposal is intertwined with the recently adopted Return regulation and the Frontex regulation proposal of 2026.

The EU Commission issued on 27 October its proposal recasting the European Border and Coast Guard (Frontex) Regulation, marking the fifth amendment of the legal basis of the agency since its creation in 2004.
