Iris Goldner Lang, Odysseus member from Croatia, will be a partner in a 4-year research project on “Algorithmic Fairness for Asylum Seekers and Refugees (AFAR)”, awarded through the Volkswagen Foundation “Challenges for Europe” programme. Other partners will include Cathryn Costello (Hertie) as the project leader, Thomas Gammeltoft-Hansen (University of Copenhagen), Derya Ozkul (University of Oxford) and Martin Ruhs (European University Institute). The project will explore the usage of new technologies in migration and asylum governance in Europe and investigate ‘fairness’ in automated decision-making. It will enable the employment of two PhD researchers at the EU law department of the Faculty of Law-University of Zagreb.
More details about the project can be found here.
